Here's The Plan. Not a plan. THE PLAN.
The first step is getting good at creating a plan. That's the FIRST step. So you get in the gym with a plan.
Workout goes fine. Reps are good. Time is efficiently used. You give the player some motivation. Maybe make some notes.
"Good job. Keep practicing." If you're really good, you give them a homework assignment. (YIPPEEE!!! Like they don't get enough homework assignments).
It's probably on a piece of paper. Players may love basketball, but the last thing that they want is a homework sheet.
"See you again soon, pal."
And between the time that they have finished the workout and have walked out to their car, ANY MUSCLE MEMORY that they may have improved has already started to leave.
And where does that homework end up?
We'd like to think somewhere important. But doubtful.
What happened to The Plan?
