Have you ever had walked out of the gym after coaching varsity basketball practice and thought: "That didn't feel like it was very productive?"
Welcome to coaching. Yea, we know how you feel. Basketball practices can actually be very stressful for coaches. People don't realize how much time goes into actually planning out the practice and thinking about all of the factors that can make your practices great!
The elements of a great basketball practice are anything but easy to assemble.
As the basketball season progresses, you have to:
- Manage your players' energy, effort, and focus.
- Keeping some aspects of basketball practice consistent.
- Add new elements of play and practice to keep things fresh and exciting for players.
As you get into the heart of the season, you always want your players thinking:
"I think I know what we are going to be doing at practice tonight... mmmmm... I wonder what we are going to do at practice tonight?"
- HINT: You always want to have a balance between consistency and keeping them on their toes.
There has to be a balance of consistent movement patterns, warm up drills, games, techniques, stations, that engage the players at the beginning of every practice.
But you always want your players leaving practice thinking: "I never want to miss practice. I would miss way too much!"
The way that you can get your kids feeling this way about your basketball practices is by balancing the fun with the instructional, the team with the individual.
That's why we created SDC. Skill based and engaging for the players -- SDC keeps players super motivated while you are in the gym! It is specifically designed to serve as the solution for the biggest problem all coaches face:
NOT HAVING ENOUGH TIME FOR PLAYER DEVELOPMENT DURING THE SEASON!
SDC has the most comprehensive team practice skills -- giving you the ability to improve your practice design and improve your players' skills -- as they get closer to the post-season!
(FYI - We have had a lot of teams win state championships after getting on SDC)
PLAYERS REALLY LOVE THE TEAM PRACTICES, TOO!
And you can assign the "skill homework" throughout the off-season.
